Succesfully opened for passenger service since May 2010, this isthe first new international airport constructed in the United States since 1995.
The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport was designed to be the nation's first green airport, including a LEED certified terminal building, state-of-the-art stormwater management system, and a plan for carbon neutral operation.
It anchors the 75,000 acre West Bay Sector Plan, a long term land use plan for mixed-use residential, commercial and business development, in addition to permanent protection of 41,000 acres of environmentally sensitive land. The airport is comprised of 4,000 acres, with approximately 1,400 acres of land adjacent to airport runways available for commercial and industrial development.
Passenger carriers currently operating include Southwest and Delta Airlines.
